Brooklyn
Guittard L'Étoile du Nord 64% chocolate & real Madagascar vanilla
The original. Classic, bold, and iconic — just like the borough that started it all. Its two flavors are as timeless as the bridge that bears its name.

Manhattan
Fresh lemon juice & zest, with real Madagascar vanilla
Bright, bold, and a little electric — just like the city that never sleeps. Sharp lemon meets smooth vanilla, just as Manhattan's energy meets its elegance.

Queens
Roasted peanut butter & Guittard L'Étoile du Nord 64% chocolate
Home to more languages and cultures than anywhere on Earth — outstanding flavors, even better together.
The Bronx
Slow-simmered raspberry jam & real Madagascar vanilla
Bold and full of heart, with a burst of tart raspberry — the Bronx doesn't do subtle, and neither does this cookie.

Staten Island
Artisanal pistachio cream & Guittard L'Étoile du Nord 64% chocolate
The green borough. Unexpected, a little underrated, and quietly extraordinary. Lush pistachio grounded in dark chocolate.
Five boroughs. Five flavors. One city.

The story behind Brooklyn Black & White
"If this is supposed to be the iconic New York cookie, then it should be as uncompromising in its quality as the city it represents."
I'm a lifelong New Yorker, and I've tasted more black and white cookies than I can count over the years. Most were disappointing — plastic-tasting, one-note lemony, or just... bland. I could never find one that lived up to what I knew it could be.
I wanted to bite into a black and white and actually taste something. Real vanilla. Pure, gourmet chocolate. A cookie base crisp enough to hold its own. As a proud NYC native, I knew our city deserved better.
The inspiration to make something great started with my dad. He grew up in The Bronx in the 1940s, in an observant Jewish family, and he's the one who taught me about our Ashkenazi Jewish heritage — including the story, often told, that Ashkenazi Jewish bakers helped bring the black and white cookie to New York City in the early 1900s. He passed away a few years ago. When I decided to start this business, I thought this would be a meaningful way to honor his memory.
So instead of dyed, fake-flavored versions with the same bland taste, I built something different: real flavors, gourmet quality, authentically New York. And since New York cannot be contained in any singular way, every borough is represented with its own flavor reflecting its character — together making up "The Flavors of NYC."
I've dreamt of building this business for years. In 2025, autoimmune issues forced me to step away from a 20+ year sales career. As I started to recover, I realized I could use this as an opportunity to fulfill my dream. I wanted to make something I was proud of, and something I believed New York needed.
I want locals to bite into a cookie that finally does their city justice, and I want visitors to be able to bring a real taste of New York City home with them. Brooklyn Black and Whites are for everyone who wants to experience a New York cookie deserving of iconic status.
